DID YOU KNOW
Dear fellow content creators,
Being a content creator in Canada—especially one focused on political education, critical commentary, or social good—is thankless, isolating, underpaid, and often invisible.
What most folks don’t understand is that you’re not just posting content.
You’re doing crisis comms in real-time.
You’re translating complex systems into bite-sized truths.
You’re holding space for your audience to feel, process, and act.
You’re helping explain complex situations to everyday people
—and you’re doing it without funding, support, or protection.
Yet, the systems around us—nonprofits, corporations, government, and media treat you like a bulletin board, like your value is only in reach, not in depth. Like you’re an optional add-on, not a crucial voice in the information ecosystem.
And yet—you keep showing up.
Because you're good at it. Because your community trusts you. Because you believe in making things better. And maybe because deep down, you know: changing the world is a group project—and this is your piece of it.
Founding Community Membership Features…
Founding Community Membership closes June 1, 2025, with general membership opening in 2026. This is to help build trust via intentional community building with founding members who are helping inform the program.
There are two monthly virtual calls content creators are encouraged to attend: one on content strategy and the second on skill building & knowledge exchange. While the calls are open to all types of digital creators, at this time they are designed specifically for content creators.
Collective Trust Building Strategy
We can’t assume alignment just because someone is “progressive.” This is where we build the container—so that when tensions or differences come up (and they will), we have the tools and relationships to handle them. This isn’t just about vibes or shared beliefs—it’s about developing the capacity to stay in community when it gets hard.
Content Strategy, Signal Boosting & Collaboration
This is where coordination begins—not forced uniformity, not talking points, but shared situational awareness and content rhythm. When something major happens—legislation, disinformation surge, coordinated attacks—we don’t want to be caught flat-footed. This is about building response infrastructure, not just reposting things when we’re already overwhelmed.
Skill-Building, Knowledge Exchange & Creator Support
We are building capacity across the network, not just content output. This includes resourcing creators with the practical tools, guidance, and mentorship they often don’t get access to unless brands or agencies already back them. It’s also how we surface who needs support, who’s solid, and where the gaps are.

Requirements To Join
-
We refer to people with large followings online as “digital creators”
Large following can include:
High follower count or strong reach on any social media platform (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.)
High number of website views or traffic
High podcast listenership or subscriber base
Other digital metrics that show you have built a sizable audience.
Why:
We are looking for people who already have the capacity to influence — not necessarily "influencers" in the lifestyle sense, but anyone whose voice can reach a meaningful number of people quickly and consistently. -
What counts:
People who make or curate content as a major part of their digital presence.
Content Creators (original videos, posts, essays, etc.)
Indie Journalists (independent reporting or investigations)
Influencers (culture/lifestyle content)
Content Curators (compiling or amplifying others’ content meaningfully)
Institutional Comms People (if you also independently create)
Professional Experts (if content is a visible part of your public work)
Why:
We want people who actively shape digital spaces — whether you’re creating original work or curating important conversations. -
What counts:
The programming is built for people or accounts that primarily create original content (videos, posts, reporting, essays, etc.).
However, any digital creator aligned with Team Humanity values — including curators, indie journalists, communications leads, and professional experts — can apply and participate.
What it means if you’re not a content creator:
You are still welcome to join.
Your participation will be considered "auditing" the pilot — meaning you’ll have access to programming, but it may not be fully tailored to your needs yet.
As the program grows, we will add more opportunities for different types of digital creators.
Why:
We are building community infrastructure for the long term. To win, we need the full ecosystem — not just content creators, but everyone shaping digital spaces toward justice and collective liberation. -
What counts:
Left-leaning, progressive, humanity-centered values.
Open commitment to justice, equity, and a livable future for all.
Willingness to challenge harmful systems, even when it’s uncomfortable.
Why:
This isn’t just a networking opportunity — it’s a movement. We are trying to gather people who are serious about building a future rooted in collective liberation, not just brand growth.
Types of digital creators
As a reminder, the program is currently designed for content creators but the introduction of our community membership allows for a variety of left-leaning organizations, experts, influencers, curators etc., that have a large digital following
Content Creators
You regularly create original content about politics, systemic issues, or current events. This is your main focus, and you're doing it without institutional backing.
Social curators
Curate and compile others’ content (threads, reposts, TikToks). Majority of content is not originally created. Informal, individual efforts.
Indie journalist and media orgs
Produce original reporting, investigations, and analysis independently on digital platforms. Self-published without traditional media backing.
Influencers
Create lifestyle, culture, or entertainment content. Occasionally integrate values-driven or advocacy messages.
Professional Experts
You’re a lawyer, therapist, journalist, or other trained professional creating content tied to your field. Your content connects to your work, but isn’t your primary focus.
Institutional allies
You manage or create content for a nonprofit, campaign, or advocacy org. You’re not a creator, but you help shape narratives from within an organization.
-
“We have been taught to either ignore our differences or to view them as causes for separation and suspicion rather than as forces for change. Without community, there is no liberation…Survival is learning to take our difference and make them strengths.”
We Require Personal Alignment on Values — Not Uniform MESSAGING on Every POST
We’re not asking you to post about every issue and we’re not measuring solidarity by the range of your content.
We are asking you to be rooted in clear principles that are anti-oppression and human rights centered as individuals, understanding that publicly you might not currently, or ever, feel the need to speak on all the issues.
Expectations for the People Behind the Accounts

intentional community building vibe check
Being in community requires grace, boundaries, and the ability to navigate disagreement without defaulting to harm or fragility
Everyone is doing their best, and there is space to know better and do better
Not everyone shows up in the same way
The goal is to build something bigger than any one individual
This space is for being in community—not just getting content ideas or exposure
This is not about clout or aesthetics—it’s about building capacity, coordination, and culture-shifting infrastructure

Team Humanity Vibe Check
The following is not a vibe check of your content, rather, is a vibe for you as a person
Collective liberation is the goal. Survival within this system is the reality. Both must be held.
Colonization is not in the past—it is active, ongoing, and shapes so much of our world's current reality.
The system protects the powerful 1% and punishes the rest of us. That’s not dysfunction—it’s design.
Corporations, billionaires, and institutions are not neutral. They profit from exploitation and avoid accountability.
Fascism isn’t a hypothetical threat—it’s here, and it must be opposed in all forms.
Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere - "imperialist white supremacy capitalist patriarchy", a term coined by bell hooks, explains how these issues are not separate—they reinforce each other.
Climate justice is indigenous justice
Genocide is always unacceptable, this includes (but isn't limited to) the genocide of Indigenous peoples on Turtle Island, the Holocaust and the ongoing genocide of Palestinians
Black, Indigenous, People of Colour, Trans, Queer, Disabled, Migrant, Women, and Lower Income folks have long experienced systemic violence and oppression in Canada.
Human rights of all people should be upheld
